Why don't you use a video trans-coder / converter like HandBrake from http://handbrake.fr/ and convert the video file to a compatible format that Windows 7 windows media player will understand. Or you could install a codec pack from http://www.codecguide.com/. There are already lot of pre-defined output template defined within HandBrake. If it’s not selected, it may be the reason why your videos are not playing. You can also try to run the System File Checker command in DOS, which checks all system files and replaces corrupted or deleted ones with the originals.
