And it just pops up on the screen when I try to send a test message. Also, most web site hosts keep port number 25 (or 26) for the outgoing server and this port is blocked by the ISP.

Quite honestly, they all have worked well for me. I think this one email is what is causing all of the problem. Stopped the email client cold.. If so, what is it (the entire message, exact wording please)?

I had to change the outgoing stmp to 587 and uncheck the "connect using a secure server." Go to accounts (in the upper toolbar), properties, advanced. However you just might be better off using another mail program like mozilla thunderbird available at http://www.mozill.org .
