I found a temporary solution by opening the network connections on another (slave) pc in my workgroup. Interestingly, although I was unable to see XP files on on my Win7 computer, I was able to see Win7 files on the XP machine. Well, I don't. Ever since I brought one Windows 7 machine into the network, it gives me a permission error. B shows up in B’s Network Places but A does not show up in either PC. Before I did what was mentioned above, I was able to browse by ip address just fine. The only way I have been able to get it to work again is to restore the drive with a backup from a time when it was working with the workgroup.
I can now see the XP Pro computers, and can transfer files the Windows7 computer to the XPs. Without recalling the exact name for the Control Panel window in VISTA (I'm Windows XP-knowledgeable, plus the neighbour's OS'es were all in Spanish) you will find an option to add a What movie is this?
