Was this answer helpful? Bruce Eppers suggests using EASEUS to attempt rebuilding the partition table. I bought and installed a new SSD but wasn't able to format/erase due to the same "cannot allocate memory" error using Disk Utility or Terminal. If the partition on the hard drive is corrupt or damaged, this would cause Windows to stop the format process or show an error message.
