Man, I was tired of that. As I have not yet checked the XML plist for corruption, that could be a possible cause as well. Offline messages (on and off) in all accounts. It comes and goes, meaning sometimes I get this error message, other times not so much. Outgoing mail (SMTP) should read “smtp.gn.apc.org” Make sure there is a tick in “My server requires authentication” (the “Settings” should be “same settings as incoming”). No joy. I have followed all steps above, yet the error message I still get is "….the chosen account does not have a preferred SMTP server selected…" IT DOES! I am not a computer freak but in 5 mins I ve spotted and solved the problem.
