for the longest time Mail has acted funky with both Mavericks and Yosemite. Verify the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) entry is set to "None". 8. Also, the screenshots were the most helpful. Mine finally showed "Connection and login to server succeeded." This Message Could Not Be Sent Because Your Account Does Not Have A Preferred Outgoing Mail Server Here are the steps to follow for Outlook, Thunderbird etc to fix this. Basically, you skipped the authentication step when setting up the outgoing emails, so you're sending an email that connects to a server with no credentials, hence the "unable to send" message. Mail receives everything from three different accounts, but as soon as I try to send something this stupid program doesn't do anything. RE-CREATE THE ACCOUNT Yosemite will fix the incompatibility seamlessly. thanks!!!!!! Of course, now this time it's an important email for work that is time sensitive and I've been unable to rectify the problem.
