If you still can't save your edited document, then there is a good chance that the document is corrupted in some way. If you use wine configure to make wine emulate windows xp instead of windows 7 then office works great. The software supports all versions of MS Word. The only one that I did not tried yet is deleting/renaming "Normal.dot" and allow the application to re-create it again.

You might want to contact Microsoft, explain your problem and see if they will send you an installation disc to see if this can resolve the issue. One would imagine that would work, but that hardly helps. I am currently using MS Office 2003 (Student/Teacher Edition) on a laptop with XP Home Edition. Thanks for yours though.
