To compile Java source code using javac you need the Java Development Kit (JDK) installation (download link). So if it is finding java.exe but not javac.exe, it may mean your JAVA_HOME variable is wrong. If that works, odds are you will find (in doing that task) that you've installed a 64 bit javac.exe, or a slightly different release number of javac.exe, or in a different JRE would have only the files(java.exe and few more)to run already compiled java programs. The path I have set is : C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.8.0_60\bin the location of java is :C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.8.0_60 (for jdk it also contains javac file in bin folder) and C:\Program Files
