Mixed mode is a little tricker than pure WPA or pure WPA2, because it requires a TKIP group key but AES-CCMP pairwise (per-client unicast) keys. Go through the same process on the other computer (if running XP) to enable printer and file sharing on there too. That should have worked if it was a switch problem! Whammo, it's working again. ICMP boxes are checked for incoming echo requests on both. I added my laptops specific address 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4, then they were able to ping eachother and the router could ping the laptops. by R.
