As a result I started looking at the Security for the db… turns out there was a db that was restored (just happened to be my normal login’s default db!) but You will be need to do the same exercise if you are logging in from a different machine. I tried setting master under the options. This can be proven out by comparing sid's between the master.sys.syslogins and dbname.sys.users for the same login / user name. you make me happy.
