Under my “registered servers” list, pick the offending server/instance and then right click, choosing “properties”, then choosing “connection properties”, and then type in a database name in the offending server/instance in Cannot Open User Default Database After Restore At the bottom of the Login Properties box you just need to select a Default Database, most likely Master.
