This worked with a user that was having this problem opening pdf file attachments in outlook. I didn't ask so far recipients to forward me back the message. In Outlook 2010/2013, the Read all standard mail in plain text setting is in File, Options, Trust Center, Email Security. Thanks for your help. Then there's no need to despair about accessing all those files. One of my bosses uses Lotus Notes. The outlook temp folders sound right b/c it only happens after an extended period of time receiving the reports.
